Application for Chapter Status
Share |

Given interest among several affinity and identity groups within our membership, and following a change to the UUMA Bylaws, it is now possible for non-geographically based groups to apply for Chapter status in the UUMA.  Applications must follow the outline available at, and will be reviewed for approval by the UUMA Board.

Non-geographic chapters may limit their membership to colleagues who meet clear and specific criteria identified in the initial application, as long as they are UUMA members in good standing.   Responsibility for monitoring and enforcing approved membership criteria will rest with the Chapter leadership.

To begin the process, we recommend an initial conversation with the UUMA Director of Collegial Practices who can offer support and guidance about the process and timeline for seeking to establish a new chapter.  The Director of Collegial Practices will remain the point of contact for those seeking to establish a new chapter up through submission of the application.

The following questions are to be addressed by at least two leaders of the proposed chapter.
Please identify the proposed chapter leadership

Application for chapter status requires two letters of recommendation from UUMA members in good standing, at least one of whom is a current or recently-past UUMA leader. Please identify those providing letters of recommendation
As with all Chapters, and in order to qualify to receive a Chapter subsidy, applicants must commit to the following:
