Last year, the UUA and UUMA created and charged a task force to study and recommend best practices for supporting and ensuring successful multi-minister ministries. Alicia Forde, Professional Development Director at the UUA, and Melissa Carvill Ziemer from the UUMA worked alongside task force members Bill Sinkford, Tom Disrud, Nathan Detering, Marion Visel, Howard Dana, Rebekah Mongtomery, and Lynn Strauss. We are deeply grateful for their work and invite you to join us in sending them your appreciation for the time, energy and experience they brought to this effort.

We contracted with an independent researcher, Rev. Malcolm Himschoot, who also serves on the national staff of the United Church of Christ, to review and report on our data. That report is now available to you. As it is a rather lengthy document, we have also prepared an “At a Glance” overview and a Summary Report, should they be of interest. You can find the At a Glance overview of best practices, the Summary of Findings, and the complete report in the Archives and Libraries section of the UUMA website. Over the coming months, we will be working to create opportunities and resources to mine the learning from this study. In the meantime, please let Alicia or Melissa know if you have any questions.

Thanks for all the hard work that went into this important topic! I wonder if there can be a lunch or meet up group at Ministry Days where the findings of these studies can be shared? Best wishes, Megan
