Hannah Franco-Isaacs, UUMA Administrator, with her family

A New Normal in Abnormal Times

Dear Friends,

After 12 weeks of family leave I have returned to work. It was such a gift to be able to take that time and know that I would be returning to work at an organization that supports my whole self and my family.

Levi Alexander Franco-Isaacs joined our family on July 10th, 2020 and it feels like he is both brand new and has been here forever. I will tell you he is spectacular. There are so many firsts and things change so quickly. Yesterday, we heard him giggle for the first time. I, of course, promptly burst into tears.

At the congregation I attended in St. Paul, they always say during the Embracing Meditation that they support “parents and teachers and all those whose primary spiritual practice is the caring of children.” These days I find myself viewing parenthood that way. Parenthood has pushed me to be more flexible. It has forced me to stay more grounded. It has reminded me to take a deep breath and keep moving forward. Much like ministry, it isn’t always easy, and sometimes someone cries in your face, but at the end of the day, it is holy work.

I am so grateful for the continued support my family has been given by the staff and members of the UUMA. I am so glad I get to raise my son in this wider community.

Haven't Renewed Your Membership? Now is the time!

It is that time again! The UUMA membership grace period is ending on October 15th. Thank you to the many people who have renewed their memberships. If you haven't renewed your membership by the 15th, you will lose access to the UUMA website, member-only events and classes, chapter membership, and UUMA communications.

There are many ways to renew your membership. You can find more detailed instructions . If you paid by check and haven’t seen your check clear, please know that since the mail is moving more slowly and we have to manually enter check payments into our membership system, it could take a few weeks for us to process these renewals.

We never want finances to be a barrier to membership. We have multiple options for waivers and you are welcome to apply . If you need to apply for a waiver, please do so by October 15th so we can make sure your membership doesn’t lapse.
