The Eight Keys to
Becoming a Multiracial, Multicultural Congregation and
Education is Important Even When it's Not Possible.
Since 1910 the congregations that
have succeeded in becoming diverse all took the same approach. What did they
do? And what role did music and religious education play?
Raised a UU, the Rev.
Morrison-Reed was ordained a UU minister in 1979. For 26 years, he and his
wife, Donna, served as co-ministers, first in Rochester NY, then in Toronto ON.
Now retired from full-time ministry, Rev. Morrison-Reed is an active lecturer
and author as well as Affiliated Faculty member at Meadville Lombard
Theological School. He has addressed hundreds of UU gatherings in the US, as
well as in Canada, Europe and Japan, and has
served on many committees, commissions, and boards, most recently as President
of the Canadian Unitarian Council. He is the author of Black Pioneers in a White Denomination
and In Between: Memoir of an Integration Baby.
His new book, Darkening the Doorways: Black Trailblazers and Missed
Opportunities in Unitarian Universalism, is just off the press.
Cost: $60 (for those serving full-time ministries)
(for those serving part-time, retired, or students)
