October 30, 2015

Dear colleagues:

On Thursday and Friday, October 22 and 23, 2015, twenty-two leaders from across the Association met in Boston to discuss a strategic plan that was developed by Megan Foley, David Pettee and Kelly Dignan to explore how best to support Unitarian Universalist aspirants and candidates on their path towards ministerial fellowship through access to a covenanted formation program.

There is much excitement and energy regarding this new collaboration between the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association, the Unitarian Universalist Association and hopefully many of our congregations!

The next step involves the work of a design team who will develop a three year plan and budget for a program that is continent wide that will include opportunities for discernment, training and education, and collegiality. The team plans to have a working design drafted by March 2016 with anticipation that these covenanted formation programs will begin to be rolled out in locations where they don't currently exist in fiscal year 2017.

We'll be sure to keep you posted with more details as they are made available.

In the faith,

Don Southworth, Executive Director, Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association
David Pettee, UUA Ministerial Credentialing Director
Megan Foley, Congregational Life Consultant/Central East Region and Central East Region In Care Program Coordinator
