|Dear UUMA Member,|
|I am writing to you from Phoenix where many of us have gathered the last two days to stand, and sit, on the side of love to witness against the fear and injustice that is SB 1070. The weather has been scorching hot. But the connections and collegiality, the tears and the hugs, the affirmations and new relationships from and with many in the community have warmed our hearts in ways 100+ degree temperatures never could.|
Earlier in July I had the honor and privilege to attend the first International Unitarian Universalist Council conference of ministers in the Netherlands. Being among more than 50 ministers from 14 countries, learning about each others’ ministries, countries, cultures and calls was not only inspiring but provided many chances to reflect on the possibilities of how we widen our connections and support even more.
Life as minister is sometimes lonely. But when we get the chance to be with one another - whether it be on the streets of Phoenix, a monastery in the Netherlands or any coffee shop, kitchen table or telephone somewhere in between - something changes in and among us. It has been written that when there are two or more gathered God is present. So is love. Let us never forget.
Acting Executive Director, UUMA
