|UUMA 2014 Vision |
We gather in covenant shaped by a culture of vulnerability, intimacy, trust and accountability to one another in which leadership andlearning are embraced. We are a source for excellent and relevantcontinuing education in which our members frequently participate. Weare a source for coaching/mentoring, advocacy, negotiation, identifyingcompensation and responsibilities.
In January 2009 the UUMA Executive Committee developed a five-year strategic plan and vision to guide our future as a professional association. The above is one of the vision statements that was crafted to describe how we wish to be in 2014. |Dear UUMA Member,|
Happy March! For many of us around the country this has been one of the wetter, colder, snowier winters in memory. Soon we will be welcoming Spring and not too long after that the snow will melt, the leaves will return to the trees and the flowers will start to show off their colorful selves once again.
New life, or at least new programs, are sprouting at the UUMA these days. We had over 60 members apply to be chapter facilitators for the "Whose Are We - A Theological Conversation" that we will begin in the fall. The CENTER Committee met at Asilomar in early February and have almost finalized the speakers and program for the first CENTER Institute For Excellence in Ministry in February 2011. Our new UUMA Facebook page is now up and running (albeit a bit slowly to start) and registration for Ministry Days opens this week.
The UUMA Executive Committee will be meeting in San Antonio from March 22-26 when they will be finalizing the agenda for Ministry Days and approving the budget (and dues structure) that will be presented at the annual meeting. Other topics on their agenda include reviewing the proposed guidelines/standards of conduct to be presented by the Guidelines Committee at the annual meeting, establishing criteria for a newly established UUMA scholarship fund, and discussing the expectations and qualifications for the different categories of UUMA membership.
I am finishing up on having conversations with each of our twenty chapter presidents and will be working with them and other chapter leaders in putting together the first UUMA Chapter Handbook in several years. The handbook will be available at General Assembly and will be posted on the UUMA website as well. I am looking forward to attending several chapter retreats in the Spring and I look forward to seeing or hearing from as many of you as possible in the next few months.
Acting Executive Director, UUMA
