Our Executive and Programming Teams are excited to invite you to register now for our Spring Retreat at the Sunrise Ranch Conference and Retreat Center in Loveland, CO, from Wednesday, March 19th, through Saturday, March 22nd. We also hope that many of you can join us at 4PM on March 22nd at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder for the ordination of our colleague Amy Rowland.
The retreat is only a month away, so we hope you will take a moment right away and go to the registration page:
The deadline for registration is March 5th.
We will be joined this retreat by two of our colleagues, Rev. Stephen Shick and Rev. M'ellen Kennedy, who will be leading a two-day workshop called "Preaching By Heart” on the art of extemporaneous preaching and praying without a script. Both colleagues are UUMA CENTER (Continuing Education, Network, Training, Enrichment and Renewal) presenters and have presented the program at retreats for the Ballou Channing and Heartland UUMA Chapters. We are excited to bring the program to our chapter. Beyond this programming, we have set aside plenty of time for conversation and play, worship and prayer, and laughter and renewal with new and returning colleagues. The full schedule will be available as a part of your confirmed registration.
One of the many benefits to being at Sunrise again is their capacity to allow each person to register directly through their website, and so we hope you will find all the information you need there about accommodations, meals and other registration details. If not, please contact Laurel or Gretchen (contact information below) if you have any questions.
The program fee for each person will be $65. Due to the subsidy we expect to receive from the UUMA, our Chapter is able to cover a $79 per person programming/administrative cost that we otherwise would have needed to add to each person's registration.
When you go to the Sunrise website, you will see that the room and board costs range from $45 (commuter) to $122 (singles) per person per night.
In addition to your registration at the website, please also complete the form below and send your MDD Chapter dues to Penny Rather, our Treasurer, so that you can renew (or initiate) your MDD Chapter membership. Also on the form there is a place to note if you are not a UUMA member. We welcome all Unitarian Universalist ministers serving in the District to attend our retreat, but we ask the non-UUMA members to pay a $100/retreat surcharge.
You will see that on the form there also is a place for you to mark an additional contribution to our Scholarship Fund. Every little bit is helpful, so please do consider a donation to this fund. Scholarships are available, especially for those who do not have sufficient professional expense money available or whose travel costs are particularly high. Our customary scholarship offering is $100, increased to $200 for people with less than $2,000 professional expenses or over $500 in travel expenses. If money is the obstacle getting in the way of your attendance at this retreat, please contact one of our Good Officers – Jann Halloran (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Ellen Johnson-Fay (email@example.com) and let them know that you would like to apply for a scholarship. The Scholarship Funds are limited, so we will offer them on a first come, first granted basis. Because Sunrise Ranch is collecting the registration and lodging fees, even if you are receiving a scholarship you will need to pay the entire amount and we will reimburse you for the scholarship amount at the Retreat (we hope before your credit card bill is due). If paying the entire amount up front is a problem, please contact Penny Rather (firstname.lastname@example.org) before February 27 or Gretchen Haley (email@example.com) after that if you need an earlier reimbursement.
Even if you are not able to join us at the Retreat, please send Penny your Chapter dues and consider making a donation to the Scholarship fund.
