IT’S TIME to register for our SEUUMA Spring retreat at The Mountain Monday April 8 through Thursday April 11.  Our program is an interdisciplinary workshop led by the Rev. Jason Shelton.  Here’s how he describes it:

Collaborative Worship Ministry: Growing the Minister/Musician/Religious Educator Relationship

We often speak of the need for greater collaboration between ministers and musicians, and add Religious Educators when we are planning multigenerational worship, but how might such relationships actually work?  In this workshop we’ll explore the roles (paid or volunteer) of the parish minister, musician, and religious educators; looking honestly at areas of potential conflict as well as celebrating the rich, rewarding partnership that is possible when they engage in a truly shared ministry.  Topics covered include: ego and worship leadership; full integration of music into the worship planning process; theological development for church musicians (and the minister’s role in making it happen); integrating religious educators and other staff and lay people into the worship team; and music, worship and anti-racist, multicultural identity.  UUMA Chapters are encouraged to invite musicians and Religious Educators to attend and participate.

Please share this information with your professional religious educators and music directors, and encourage them to come to the retreat.

All participants are encouraged to bring hand-held instruments to accompany several opportunities to sing and rejoice together.

In addition, our colleague Alison Eskildsen extends the following invitation:

I am inviting you (and/or anyone from your team who plans to attend) to consider volunteering to lead or co-lead one of several brief worship opportunities during the retreat. The time for each worship is 30 minutes max. Morning worship is scheduled from 9 - 9:30 am; Evening from 7 - 7:30 pm.

Ideally, we'd like collaborative teams to prepare the worship. If only one from your congregation's team is able to attend, but that person is interested in joining someone from another congregation, please have them contact me and I'll coordinate that. If you or one of your congregational colleagues wish to volunteer to lead a service by yourself or themselves, please let me know that, too.

PLEASE email me directly (rev.eskildsen@uuathensga.org) to express your interest and indicate time slot availability and preferences. If you have a theme already, please share that, too. I'll make final assignments once I hear back from you.

PLEASE contact me by March 15 or sooner so that I can confirm your time slot and give you time to prepare.

The Mountain now has an online registration process which is not the most user friendly in the world, so I'm going to give you a heads up about it. I'm going to paste in the link below --- but if you don't have it, just go to their site, then to the calendar, then find our April meeting and click where it says Click HERE.  They MAY have the name changed to "Southeast Religious Professionals" -- which we had requested to be more inclusive, but right now it says SEUUMA.  After you go to the link, you MAY have to sign up for their database if you do not already have a username and password.  After you get that done and LOG IN, you click on Programs.  Then click on ADD PROGRAM by your name.  Hint -- Don't check on anything on the next box, just click on proceed and it will show it all.  Go WAY down --- past where you see the FALL SEUUMA till you see SPRING SEUUMA.  These are not necessarily in order.  Then click on it and the rest is a little more user friendly. Here's that LINK for REGISTRATION: https://mountain.campwise.com//CAMP/default.aspx?AppName=CW&SELLOC=CA0000&OnlineSection=OLRG

We have a need for a childcare provider.  If you are bringing an adult to care for your child, and they would be willing to add an additional 4-year-old boy to the mix, please contact Rev Pat Guthmann Haresch at minister@uucob.org
