UUMA Email Services

The UUMA, in partnership with Google Apps, is proud to be able to provide free email address to all members.

A uuma email address functions very similar to a Gmail account. You can check your email online via a website or download your email using POP/IMAP protocol. This makes the account compatible with email program such as MS Outlook, Eudora, Mac Mail, etc. and with PDAs and other hand-held devises.

Useful "How To's" for Email Account Holders:

  • Check your email online: https://www.google.com/a/uuma.org

  • Change your password.
    1. Log in to your account using the above link and navigate to your email inbox.
    2. Click on the Settings link in the upper-right hand corner of your screen; then click on "Accounts".
    3. Click on the "Change password" link at the bottom of your screen. You will be taken to the Change Password screen.
    4. Type your current password in the "Your current password" text box. Create a new password, and type it into both the "Choose a new password" and the "Re-enter the new password" text boxes. Note: It's recommended that to make your password hard to guess, you use letters, digits, and punctuation in your password.
    5. Write down your password in a secure location.
    6. Click "change password".

  • Set up your account so it forwards to a different email account.
    1. Log in to your account using the above link and navigate to your email inbox.
    2. Click on the Settings link in the upper-right hand corner of your screen; then click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" link.
    3. When the Forwarding screen appears click the "Forward a copy of incoming mail" radio button. Enter the email address at which you wish to receive email in the text box after the radio button.
    4. In the drop-down list below the radio button, select "delete Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association's copy".
    5. Click the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Set up your account to download to an outside program using POP. POP, or Post Office Protocol, lets you download messages from Gmail's servers onto your computer so you can access your mail with a program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail, even when you aren't connected to the Internet.
  1. Log in to your account using the above link and navigate to your email inbox.
  2. Click on the Settings link in the upper-right hand corner of your screen; then click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" link.
  3. When the Forwarding screen appears, do the following:
  4. Click the " Enable POP for all mail" radio button.
  5. In the drop-down list below the radio button, select "delete Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association's copy".
  6. Click the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Configure your computer’s email client. Visit mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12103 to view directions for a number of clients (Apple Mail 3.0, Outlook Express, Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003 (see animated demo), Outlook 2007, Thunderbird 2.0, Windows Mail, Other)
  • You can also retrieve your UUMA.org messages with a client or device that supports IMAP, like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail
  1. Log in to your account using the above link and navigate to your email inbox.
  2. Click on the Settings link in the upper-right hand corner of your screen; then click on the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" link.
  3. When the Forwarding screen appears, do the following:
    1. Click the " Enable IMAP" radio button.
    2. Click the "Save changes" button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Once you've enabled IMAP in your UUMA account, configure your mail client or wireless device to download messages. To learn about configuration settings, click the name of your mail client or wireless device.
